RESOLUTIONS TAKEN BY THE DELEGATES AT THE WORLD SEPHARDI CONGRESS IN BARCELONA 14-17 OF OCTOBER 2002

? The world Sepharqad Congress of Barcelona took place at the for seen dates of 14th – 17th of October 2002 and according to the for seen schedule. This was the first ever Sepharad Congress in Spain and the first one after 1932 in Vienna.

- The delegates to the World Sepharad Congress representing their respective NSF, organizations, and the World Sepharad Federation are from: Curacau – Netherlands Antilles, Brazil, Canada, Spain, Chile, France, Uruguay, Great Britain, USA, Greece, Holland, Israel, Italy, Morocco, Ceuta-Melilia, Mexico, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Belgium, Poland, Russia and Turkey. It assisted also an important delegations of Rabbis and business people from USA, Europe, South America and Israel.

With the spirit of dialog and tolerance all the delegates thanked to Spain and its government for the comprehension and hospitality. For Sephardis, Spain is and will always be second homeland after Israel. Every corner, every stone of this country brings our unforgettable meanings of the past lived by our parents in this land of Sepharad. We are representing, as our ancestors, the integrand and integral part of the Spanish culture.
The links which are lighting us with Spain were cut off five centuries ago, but the nostalgic of the past are touching our hearts and Spain continue to making vibrating.

Resolutions:

1. To adopt an executive measures for the recognition and rehabilitation of all Sephardi Jews who are able to prove that their ancester rehabilitate their status of Spanish nationality.
The adoption of such measures will represent the recognition be understoos as the persecutions and the Inquisition suffered by our ancestor, which led to betwwen 100.000 and 200.000 Jews being project will be the repair the historic past for the Spanish Government.

2. To promote the education and the culture in benefit of the social development, recovering for Spain the Sepharad history that remain barred during 500 years, reediting books in schools that include the important roll and the Sepharad contribution to the culture of Spain.

3. To recuperate the historic Sepharad patrimony in benefit of the Sepharad community and Spain itself, specially in monuments, museum, synagogues, etc. distribute for the fifth continents and, at the end, are Spanish patrimony.

4 The creation by the government of Spain of a found designated to school teaching in the Sepharad schools world wide and the preservation of the cultural and linguistic patrimony of Judeo – Spanish language, frame in the International Sepharad Institute of Cooperation.
